ランニング技術「最後に習得したい(スタート)」

少し脱線した話をすると、ランニングフォームが効率的なフォームだとするとスプリントフォームは加速能力に振ったフォームです。

The Final Mastery Point in Running

In sprinting, the practice, form, and objectives shift clearly between the start, acceleration, and maintenance phases.

In distance running, however, we spend almost all of our training on "maintenance." That’s why the conversation usually centers around maintaining a specific pace, like "I ran at X minutes per kilometer."

But there is one element I’ve been curious about and pushing aside for a long time: the start. Even in long-distance running, the start technically only happens once.

To digress slightly, if distance running form is built for efficiency, sprinting form is built for maximum acceleration. Personally, I believe the difference lies in how you pull forward the trailing leg after it hits the ground.

In distance running, the goal is to avoid deceleration during ground contact. In the acceleration phase, the goal is to bounce powerfully off the ground. Since repulsive force is determined by the power you push into the ground, simply avoiding deceleration means doing "nothing" with your feet.

However, in the acceleration phase, I believe you need to "drive into" the ground firmly. As preparation for this, the challenge is the quick recovery of the leg (swinging it forward and up).

While pelvic movement is enough for distance running, I am currently re-studying thigh movement to improve the acceleration phase.

This morning, my stride length exceeded 170 cm, but my cadence stayed around 210, feeling as though a "limiter" was kicking in.

The speed was similar to a final spurt in a distance race, but the form itself was entirely different. It was a great experience to practice this specifically.
